Learned this lesson about 35 years ago when the chain clasp came undone in the middle of plowing. Bad enough getting chains on when it is dry and cold. Sarge 3,462 #11 Posted December 27, 2016 Do a search for latching down tire chains on YouTube - there should be an easy video of how to latch various types , lot of different latch systems out there . Metal wire works the best to make certain they don't open and plastic wire ties work in a pinch but are very prone to breaking in cold weather . I've had one come off and wrap itself around the axle and ag tire - that wasn't fun at -20*F with high winds , worst day for it to happen and that was from a crappy latch and broken plastic wire tie ...
