:WRS:  A rebuild kit from psep.biz is about $150 with all the parts, usually a week lead time on the parts. I don't know your skill level but this might be a suggestion.

Thanks for the idea.... my skills are extremely minimal but I must keep the beast purring... a local machine shop wants a cool $900 to rebuild/ clean and dyno the monster.... with a two week turn around.... if only I were rich Hahahaha... what specific parts do I not want to purchase-a.k.a. Junk valves or governors? really appreciate the help!

First and foremost if you want to try the rebuild your self, down load a Kohler service manual to help walk you through the rebuild. You would have to disassemble the engine & get your cylinder, valves and crank checked. Then order the rebuild kit with the proper size piston & rod. You would take these and your valves to your machinist along with your block and crank to get these machined to size. After machining is done then you could reassemble the engine.

$900 seems a bit high for a rebuild. Check with a1 miller ( gardentractorpullingtips.com) they advertise a rebuild in the $500 range plus shipping. I don't know their turn around time , but they might be worth checking with. I would call them & check the turn around time before I sent them your engine, they are in MO. A used replacement might be an option also, but your never sure what your getting that way either.  I guess bottom line do some checking on your options before making your final decisions.

There have been guys on here that have repowered with Predator engines from Harbor Freight - good prices ($360 for 13hp) - I don't know what is involved to make the switch, but you might ask before starting on yours - if you have minimal skill at this, then..........:)

:text-yeahthat: That could be another option for you. A post here in the Classifieds Wanted section may turn up some results. You could also do a Kohler search on Craigs List in your area and see if you can find anything.
