chris sutton 610 #1 Posted November 28, 2016 Ive had this RJ 35 for a number of years and always thought it was 1956 but after chatting to a few people on here there seems to be some doubt and it may be a 57. sorry about the quality of the pictures but their photos of photos, the RJ is all tucked up in the stable for winter and difficult to get at

chris sutton 610 #7 Posted November 28, 2016 Thanks guys for your replys, my next question is what colour should the wheels be, they were white when I bought it but having read the " straight from the horse's mouth " book I sprayed them black
AlwaysLookin80 1,308 #8 Posted November 28, 2016 It's a 57, I have two. The steering wheel is 55/56. Someone must have changed it. Also 55/56 had open belt covers
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,540 #9 Posted November 28, 2016 The steering wheel may be correct. I had 2 57's and one came with the cast wheel like yours and the other had the 58' wheel. I think the early 57's had the cast wheels.
ACman 7,655 #10 Posted November 28, 2016 Nice RJ Chris ...56/57 I don't know the answer , but it's sweet! ...I just like sitting back and watch the pros go back and forth on different points . Makes for a good learning experience.

stevasaurus 23,292 #12 Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) I think I read the 1957 would have "almond" or linen beige on both fronts and rears Chris. This is in one of the threads I sent you in PMs. Edited November 28, 2016 by stevasaurus

stevasaurus 23,292 #14 Posted November 28, 2016 Sorry Chris. The pictures with the off white rims look great...you could just keep it a 1957 with black rims.

rj35hunter 288 #16 Posted November 30, 2016 Not saying they don't exist originally white but to this day I haven't seen an original 57 RJ35 with any color but black wheels and red seat.....I like the black wheels personally...

VinsRJ 723 #19 Posted December 2, 2016 Hello, I would say you have a 57 on your hands, as for the steering wheel I have had 57's with both styles, as for the color of the wheels again I have seen both, some black and some white, I think the one thing to keep in mind with these early Pond RJ's, is anything goes, the parts used were whatever was on the shelf at the time, and that has been well documented by multiple RJ Jedi Masters, LOL!
