Coil clip help

Need some help guys. This might be a really dummy question but I'm stumped. I'm working on a K-161. The coil was shot so I installed a new one;

Here's my problem. I have this clip that's supposed to be installed.

I've tried about every combination of ways to reinstall it that I can imagine. Nothing seems right. It's part #237919 on the parts list and reference P. But the drawing shows 2 parts for reference P. The other looks like some sort of little tab which I don't have. Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

On a Tecumseh, the clip was inserted on the backside..then snapped down on the coil to hold it down....if I remember correctly.

I could be mistaken..

I'm wondering if there's something different with the aftermarket coil that's keeping me from seeing how it goes on. I'm also concerned about that second part I don't have. I would think something has to secure the coil in place. It's snug but not super tight on the stator. :scratchead:

You bet I will. I wonder if that little tab I mentioned is for the coils that have the plug wire coming out the top instead of bottom. There's one on my K-90. Thanks again. :)

Your memory was serving you correctly. I just couldn't envision it until I saw a picture. Thank you too. :)

Piece of cake once somebody told me what to do. As mentioned, this is an aftermarket coil. The fit was perfect. The two primary wires come out in front of the stator but that won't be a problem. Thanks again guys. :)
