Just grew the horse farm. Price was right (free). Everything's works but a little issue with shift lever. Its real loose and twist a bit. Tough getting in and out of gear. Any ideas or similar issue fixed would be great.

Nice score and price! You can take the plate off where the shifters are and make sure little allen bolt that hols shifter in is adjusted right.

He has a tiller for it also. Gonna keep working on him for that cuz he has no use for it now. I did get the axle bracket and the cable and rock shaft.

Wishin4a416 thanks for the tip. I couldn't resist to work on her. So after the kiddos went to bed I went to the garage. Low and behold it was that allen bolt. Was backed out and snapped. Dug through some cabinets and found a 1/4 20 Allen bolt and a nut. Ground the end down to fit in the ball on shifter and she works like new. Fired it up and thing purrs like a kitten. 999 hours on it and you would think it was a brand new engine it runs that well. Thanks again for your help.

Wow, hard work pays off, and Jack sure gave you a good tip. He knows his way around the horses. I could see the grin on your face to. Job well done.

I also have a 416-8, but mine is a 1988 model with the 16 hp single cylinder M16 Kohler Magnum.  I wouldn't mind finding an Onan one to go along with my Kohler one.

You will enjoy the 416.
