Ed Kennell 35,809 #4 Posted November 12, 2016 The first step .. determine if you have spark . Pull the plugs and make sure they are firing when you crank the engine. If you have fire, the Onan will run if you spray fuel directly into the carb. Second step is to determine why you do not have fuel delivery to the carb. HokieAg07 129 #6 Posted November 13, 2016 In my experience, and this is after having the carbs apart for cleaning, that it is easier to fill the bowl with fuel with a squirt bottle rather than relying on the fuel pump to do all that. Much less frustration trying to get it to run consistently this way rather than waiting for bowl to fill via the pump, which is engine vacuum driven.

Even after sitting awhile, some of the below the seat fuel tank models can grind on and on until the fuel gets to the carb. my 416H and 314-8 both have electric fuel pumps.Pull out choke, turn key on, wait until pump noise changes then start!
entropy 104 #8 Posted November 19, 2016 This will help a great deal! Has a trouble shooting section as well. Also do a search for the demystification guide for Onan on this site. When I could not get mine running both those two guides helped me check every component of electrical system until I found the culprit. WH nut 553 #10 Posted November 27, 2016 Make sure you have 12v to the + side of the coil. if not run a jumper from the battery and see if you have spark.
