clueless 3,258 #1 Posted November 12, 2016 Bought a hand held digital tach the other day, the kind that uses reflective tape. I know the best place to put the tape is on the shaft, but with the pto clutch there's no room. Where is the second best place to put the tape. would the outer face of the pto clutch work? rmaynard 16,344 #2 Posted November 12, 2016 The shaft is actually not a good place. Any part of the outer PTO bell will work, or stick it on the screen attached to the flywheel. The closer it is to the center, the less accurate it is. I have found this out from personal experience.
