whfan74 2,071 #1 Posted January 7, 2009 Well there was a deal that was too good to pass up today (almost free). Called dad today up in Michigan and sent him on a run. Came back home with a 1970 Raider 10, with plow and mower deck. It has the original Tecumseh and the tractor has been goobered up somewhat. I am hoping we can save another one from going to the scrap yard. Once I get pics I will be sure to post.

whfan74 2,071 #4 Posted January 7, 2009 I am sorry to say it was...........to be honest with you Perry when I called my dad to go get it I was suprised it wasn't already at your house. He hasn't tried to start it yet but the wife said it runs. There might be some water in the tranny but we will check in to that when we get a chance. It is missing a the turning arm for the plow........exactly what I just sold to Kelly. Just my luck! Tires seem to be good.....chains somewhat worn. Snow plow needs a new scraper blade........which we just sold as well. Oh well. Mower deck seems solid but they rigged up older hardware to the top of a newer deck. linen beige 15 #7 Posted January 7, 2009 Goobered up? Thats not goobored...thats a Tecumseh. Goober wouldn't work on Techys. Gomer might if you caught him in just the right mood. Nice snag by the way. :hide:

whfan74 2,071 #10 Posted January 7, 2009 Ok everyone as you have requested here are the pictures. It is not a cadillac but has potential. We are pleased to have saved this one from the scrap yard! rear view........... fancy muffler
Rollerman 290 #11 Posted January 7, 2009 Holy cow that is one goobered up tucky! I've never seen an oil bath air filter without the cover. That muffler looks interesting too....almost like a movie silencer for a firearm. Looks like it will make a good worker....or a great project.
whfan74 2,071 #12 Posted January 8, 2009 I wasn't kidding when I said goobered...........it has been saved and is now in a safe place. The question is where to start!!!!!!!! Maybe I will build a shadow box for that airfilter.....it is definitely unique! I was thinking that muffler was interesting as well.........silencer, now that's funny! One last thing.....it has a Kohler ignition for the Tecumseh.......the plot thickens!
Rollerman 290 #13 Posted January 8, 2009 The Kohler ignition parts are not unheard of on Tuckies. Factory ignition failed & were costly to replace....Kohler parts were cheaper . The Walther PPK thread on silencer for a muffler though. :D
WHC-125 4 #14 Posted January 8, 2009 Good piece to have some fun with :hide:
Teddy da Bear 11 #15 Posted January 8, 2009 Looks like some kind of plastic spacer behind that impliment height adjusting knob. Maybe it stripped out at one time. And what exactly is that hood ornament pray-tell? :D
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #16 Posted January 8, 2009 The hood ornament is from a Chevy Caprice. Here's a few more :D
Duff 206 #17 Posted January 8, 2009 Dang, TT, where DO you come up with these things? I know - Google - but you had to start with something, right? I mean there're a zillion hood ornaments out there, so how did you narrow the search? Duff :D
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #18 Posted January 8, 2009 I've spent quite a few hours in junkyards. And......... My Vo-Tech machine shop teacher actually had a Caprice, and every day at lunch time we would turn the hood ornament sideways! :hide:

Rollerman 290 #20 Posted January 8, 2009 And......... My Vo-Tech machine shop teacher actually had a Caprice, and every day at lunch time we would turn the hood ornament sideways! One of my teachers in school actually drove a Yugo....some of us would go out & turn the whole car sideways. My memory serves me right...he didn't normally laugh. :hide:
