Honest Bob 19 #1 Posted October 31, 2016 Has anyone bothered to try and put an electric pto on from the 73+ models on a 656 (or other 60's models)? I picked up a snow blower from a tach-0-matic tractor and getting the PTO hooked up seems to be my only issue. I'm guessing a PT-6 pto would work as well but I'm having an issue locating one. wallfish 18,239 #2 Posted October 31, 2016 How about just making a lever or pedal to spring tension the belt? That's how the old ST-302/3072 1962 blowers worked. It used a foot pedal to push/pull a gearbox (gearbox was used to reverse spinning direction) for adding tension to the belt for engaging the blower. Maybe rig up something from a mower deck engage pedal from that era tractor?
pfrederi 18,711 #3 Posted October 31, 2016 (edited) You would have to cut the outer 2 groves off your drive pulley or get a single sheave replacement. You would also have to come up with a spacer to take the place of the bump out on later model drive pulleys. Finally electric PTOs are not my first choice for anything that should be slowly engaged. The sudden engagement of electric PTOs especially in the cold weather or if there is Ice build up in your blower would be hard on everything. 953 nut 60,333 #4 Posted November 1, 2016 I put a manual clutch including the pulleys from a late '60s on my 1055 and it works fine. Just have to find one with the same crank shaft size as yours. Drop an email to aztractor255@gmail.com explaining what you are doing and he will fix you up. Did business with them today, great dealer with lots of parts. Honest Bob 19 #5 Posted November 2, 2016 Thanks guys! After looking at it again I may be able to utilize what I have and possibly just have the mower pto pedal working backwards. I'll look into a manual clutch if things dont work out.
