You are not an idiot, you found and fixed the problem.  :)

Now if your brother in law, who knows nothing about carbs. and is an actual idiot (they all are, aren't they) came over and stumbled across the heavy floats, then maybe you could join his club.....:ychain:

I would guess that one of the Presidential Candidates somehow rigged your carburetors...it's the only thing that makes since.  It was not your fault.

We all fall into this category at one time or another .

I won't go into how many times I've rebuilt an engine / tore apart my wheelers' differential or gearbox because I succumbed to the knee-jerk reaction of " I have to solve this problem ...NOW "

Just take comfort in knowing , you are not alone !

The one thing that keeps me going is that I'm too hardheaded and way too prideful to admit defeat. And that trait has gotten me in over my head a few times.

Three stages of old age.1 you forget to zip up after you pee.2 you forget unzip before you pee.3 you don't worry about the zipper at all.

Don't feel bad those moments happen to all of us. I was working on a generator a couple days ago...unit had been sitting for two or three years so as you can imagine the carb was pretty gummed up. Took everything apart, cleaned it and got it all back together, but still would not start, pondered on it for several minutes before discovering I had forgotten to hook the plug wire back up, I had unhooked it to get it out of the way while removing the carburetor, I felt like a true idiot for a few hrs after that too.

bought a 520h used and all seems good but has random misfire when running, vac gauge drops from 10psi to 5psi and engine looses power. not sure were to start hoping no valve issue! only other issue is unit is very slow in reverse. new to the forum hope not a frequent question
