jdleach 525 #1 Posted October 16, 2016 As the title says. I have poked around various files looking at brochure photos of the 1980 C175, but the ones I have run across are pretty grainy and not very clear. Would like a good shot of the original seat so I can try to locate one similar for my tractor. Not at all sure if the one I have is original. One thing is for sure, and that is that it desperately needs replacing. Thing is all cracked and pretty well arsed out.

tunahead72 2,548 #3 Posted October 16, 2016 That may be a replacement seat. I believe the original would have had a Wheel Horse logo embossed into the backrest.
jdleach 525 #4 Posted October 16, 2016 Thanks Sylvan, but I believe Ed is right. From what photos I have seen, the C175 had a high back seat. The one in the photo is of the type found on the 300 series tractors. I am not terribly concerned as to whether the logo is on the seat, just looking for the same style. When I replaced the seat on my 312-8, I was able to get a Michigan Seat Co. seat that is an exact match with the original, just did not have the logo. I am wanting to do the same on my C175.
jdleach 525 #6 Posted October 16, 2016 Learn something every day. Thanks Craig. I had no idea the seat style from the 300/400 series tractors went back into the black hoods. Now all I have to do, is find a Michigan Seat Co. seat with a high back like the one in the photos. I looked at the ones offered by Northern Tool, but did not see one with that high of a back.
jdleach 525 #7 Posted October 16, 2016 (edited) A quick Google search seems to show that that style of seat in a high back is no longer available. Drat. May just have to go with the mid back model as was shown in the first photo in SylvanLake's post. Edited October 16, 2016 by jdleach

TDF5G 2,073 #9 Posted October 17, 2016 (edited) I just checked Northern Tool and they don't list the Michigan highback seat any longer. Lowback and midback still available. There was a genuine highback seat with the logo on it listed on ebay, but it wasn't cheap. Here's a medium, highback seat they call it. It looks taller than the midback on Northern Tool http://seat-warehouse.com/product-category/lawn-gardenturf/lawn-garden-tractor-mowers/ Edited October 17, 2016 by TDF5G

jdleach 525 #12 Posted October 18, 2016 Thank you very much Gents, I appreciate the input enormously. The site TDF had in his post had the proper style seat, a high (er) backed version, but the price at nearly a century note gives some pause. Paul's seat is of a style I could live with, but I am a little concerned about its origins, though not as much as if it was from China. Decisions, decisions. ShallowaterSailor sent me a PM last evening offering me an original used seat with logo that had perfect vinyl, though the pan had some issues. For my part, I just could not consider using it for a working tractor, as it was too nice to arse-out. I suggested he put a new pan on it, and use it on a resto. Given its age, a few plops of my wrinkled butt onto it in freezing weather, and the cracks and tears will start. Thank you anyway John!.
JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,499 #13 Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) JD, sorry I saw your post late, here is a picture of my original C 175 seat with orihinal tear in it. I will be looking for a seat to. Btw, my tractor gets delivered to me Tomorrow morning, by 10 am. Oct 18th...FINALLY.. Glenn Edited October 18, 2016 by JERSEYHAWG / Glenn
jdleach 525 #14 Posted October 18, 2016 Great to hear you are finally getting your mule Glenn. My C175, inspite of all its failings, is an impressive machine. Never was much on the styling, but it grows on you, and the construction is above top-notch. Regarding the styling, my wife said it well when she told me the day I drug the 175 home: "It looks mean." As I said in an earlier post, I was under the impression that the seats on the black hoods was different. Obviously not. Pity that the high back is no longer in production. Thank you for the photo.
