I just pick up a flip 73 W/Horse 8 tractor. I am wondering what they where trying accomplish with this tractor. The axel set up is totally different than a standard 1" axel = long shaft and very low profile tires 20x8.00x10.  It sits low in the back and the hubs are different. was this made in the states? Any info would be appreciated.

In 1973, Wheel Horse made two different versions of the 8 hp, one with the 8 speed transmission, which was more of a garden tractor, and one with a 4 speed which was intended for light duty chores.  Per Wheel Horse 1973 brochure, the 4 speed was homeowners who wanted a smaller tractor to perform everyday type of lawn care.  And yes, it had the smaller rear tires.

I'm sure it was aimed at the consumer that didn't need a full size GT, had a smaller yard, no veggie garden etc... I bet the small motor tires etc..was reflected in the price.

Pretty sure it has 1" axles so I don't see why it couldn't have a set of 5 lug 1" hubs slid on and 12" rims installed.

 No pics Gary?

I will do picks Mike. Thanks T-Mo. I put some 6 12`s on to try it. This  is for if I keep it for light duty plowing like ice break up. I know the centering hub is smaller but just want to see if this works.

Ok Mike and Guys here are a few picks The Carb was clogged up. Only run on Start fluid. I am thinking of taking the tranny out of the commando 6 and use that and try and get some $$ for it after.

Nothing as long as the tires do not go out of round. Because of the center of the hub is smaller than 6 12 tires that are on there. These 20x8x10 have a special hub.

Understood. As long as the lug bolts are tight I doubt you'll have a problem.
