RedHorse54 578 #1 Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone, does anyone know how to adjust a gouvener on a k90 to make it run right? The gouvener is making the motor run Normal, then die down alittle bit, then run normal, then die down a little bit in a matter of seconds, and it keeps doing it. (Motor stays running but gets weak, then runs normal over and over again in a letter of seconds) I've attached a video. Thanks Edited October 7, 2016 by RedHorse54
wallfish 18,187 #2 Posted October 7, 2016 That sounds like what is known as hunting. Usually caused by inconsistent fuel delivery and can be caused by a number of things. Carb adjustment. Dirty carb. Air leaks around the carb. Sticking float. Download the Kohler service manual in the manuals section. (K91 is the same as K90) which will explain complete carb adjustment and how to set the governor. To test for air leaks around the carb, spray a little carb cleaner around the throttle shaft and gasket with the engine running. If it changes RPM as you spray it, there are leaks. THOROUGHLY clean the carb.( Just pulling the bowl is not enough.) and adjust float level according to the manual.
