grinchsr 647 #1 Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) The question is can I call the oil level switch bad or stuck if I hit the test switch and the oil light is solid and the crank case is full or should I be looking some where else? This was a good running 416 when it shut off one day and never started again. Model is 3116K803 Kohler single Edited September 27, 2016 by grinchsr
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,509 #2 Posted September 27, 2016 No you can not call the oil level switch bad. Too many other components in that circuit. If you have power in the light blue wire going to the oil level switch and power in the dark blue wire coming from the low oil level switch with the key in the START position the switch is working. If the power is not getting through the switch it may simply need to be cleaned. If you need to remove the low oil switch read these instructions first Garry
MalMac 1,332 #3 Posted September 27, 2016 Word of warning. The oil sensor floats have a bad habit of coming apart. Then they get chopped up in the motor. I have seen this on numerous motors.
grinchsr 647 #4 Posted September 27, 2016 Thanks for the help. I just tested the 2 blue wires and found that I don't have 12V in either one of them and my fuses are good. looks like I will be spending more time with the wiring diagram
