Walt 339 #1 Posted September 20, 2016 Do the Briggs and Kohler PTO's rotate in opposite directions? I know my PTO rotates counter clock wise. I set the snow thrower I have been modifying to operate on a horizontal shaft engine in front of my tractor, and using a old belt I checked the pulley and drive shaft operation. Everything looks like it will work well as far as power transfer goes except the auger rotates like its a sweeper. I checked snow thrower manuals and a you tube video. Everything looks good other than it would just push snow up and out the front instead of pulling it in and throwing it up and out chute.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,509 #2 Posted September 20, 2016 Engines all turn the same direction but the auger must turn in the opposite direction. Wheel Horse accomplished this by running the drive chain under the auger sprocket rather than around it with the addition of two idler sprockets. Good photo in this thread Garry Thank you now I will have to either figure out locations for the 2 idler sprockets or hope 1 of our members can assist me with location so I can add them. I will start post asking for their location. Dam I wish I had access to the prints used to make these pieces of equipment. It would make doing modifications or new parts so much easier. While Typing this reply it has already come to me I may loose much of the tensioner adjustment due to trying to keep drive shaft location along bottom may be my chain will have to go over top.
