BRONCO14 0 #1 Posted January 1, 2009 i have a chance to buy a 1962-702 needs tires, dull rusted all over, no deck, i think 3rd gear might be missing tooth, have to hold it in 3rd gear to go. has not ran in 6 years, what would u guys offer?
Guest fireman #2 Posted January 1, 2009 HI and I just bought one and paid $300. It is in great condion and runs and drives fine with almost no rust. Given what you said about the one you described, I wouldn't give more than $150 but that's me. It's really what you are willing to pay for it.
BRONCO14 0 #3 Posted January 1, 2009 nice, thanks man, im very exited about it. any one else out there got ideas would love to hear em. gonna show the guy what other collectors think
Michael Bullington 5 #4 Posted January 1, 2009 to me $150 the max...and thats only if the engine seems okay and the hood is not bent warped or dented,,if the engine didnt check out and the hood is damaged,,,then $50 at most! I would try to by this for $100 or less good luck :horseplay:
whfan74 2,071 #5 Posted January 1, 2009 I would agree with Michael......I would try and stay $100 or less since there are no attachments and it sounds like it might need a little TLC.
qd-16 14 #6 Posted January 1, 2009 Hit him with a low offer, you can always go up. How well the engine runs would be my biggest factor.
linen beige 15 #7 Posted January 1, 2009 About 3 years ago I found one on e bay and got it for the reserve of $250. It has the HY-2 lift, solid working deck, chains, and dozer blade. It had not run in at least 9 years. I put gas in it and a battery on it and it fired right up! I have gotten much more than my $250 in use out of it. In short I agree whole heartedly with the other guys. The main value is in the engine. If she runs and is not all bent up $100 to$150. The tranny problem is probably a bad (or stuck) detent spring/ball thingy deal.
cham-ed 0 #8 Posted January 2, 2009 I think you guys are 100% right on price. The only other intangible is what each person feels about the tractor. My Dad had a 702 which we had to part with in the 1980's. I could probably sucked into paying a little more for it than the 1963 or 1961 equivalents. Those factors can always warp the pricing. Teddy da Bear 11 #9 Posted January 2, 2009 :hide: I myself would not pay more than $100. And I would really reconsider "showing" this guy what collectors think. It might backfire. Good luck.
HorseFixer 2,013 #10 Posted January 2, 2009 I agree with everyone else. I got mine for 225.00 but everything worked on it and it was not badly rusted and it has a working deck. The seat is padded and not original but thats the only thing that is askew on the tractor. I would say $ 100 to $ 125.00 good luck on it!
