RedHorse54 578 #1 Posted September 13, 2016 hey everyone I have an issue with a gouvener on this K90. It idles very well with the throttle all the way off. But if you move the throttle on the slightest bit the motor races and revs up by itself. Is this set the correct way? What should I do to fix this problem? WHX?? 51,837 #3 Posted September 13, 2016 That's a piece of wire got caught in there when the horse tried to jump the fence Seriously shouldn't there be spring in there somewhere between the throttle cable and the guv??
Mike'sHorseBarn 3,249 #4 Posted September 13, 2016 Throttle cable needs to be secured to the speed adjustment arm as shown. This could very well be your problem. Also as stated above, that extra wire shouldn't be there. Not sure what that is all about.
Racinbob 11,974 #5 Posted September 13, 2016 I'm thinking that may be the problem too. I see one end of the spring. Make sure it's installed properly and then adjust everything according to section 6 of the service manual if you still have issues.

wallfish 18,179 #7 Posted September 13, 2016 3 hours ago, RedHorse54 said: What should I do to fix this problem? Remove that strange piece of wire. Verify the spring is connected to the disc properly. The hook of the spring slides into the groove of the bent piece on the disc. Right circle on pic. The other side of the spring looks connected to the arm correctly. Adjust governor per manual as stated above. Attach throttle conduit to that arm as stated and pictured above. You can test if the governor is working by starting the engine and moving that governor arm with your hand. You should definitely feel it pushing hard to close the throttle as you try and make it go faster. You can then adjust the high RPM to 3600 but the manual states a K91 can be adjusted to 4000 rpm.
WHX?? 51,837 #8 Posted September 13, 2016 Now I gotta go look at mine to see if it's like that 19 minutes ago, wallfish said: can be adjusted to 4000 rpm nothing like a few extra revs eh John???
Wheel-N-It 2,976 #9 Posted September 14, 2016 These guys are correct Red Horse. You need to completely rework what you have there.
rmaynard 16,340 #10 Posted September 14, 2016 You need to take that "extra" spring off and get a cable clamp to secure the throttle cable as shown in the drawing. The only spring needed is the one that coils around the governor shaft and hooks into the throttle arm.
