1056 and 1057

Just posting pics, as I have nothing better to do.

I put the mid mount on the 1056 and it won't go all the way up when angled as it hits the foot rests . Yeah, I could tilt the foot rests up, I guess.

Where are the numbers on the transmissions of these tractors?

I know that the 1056 and 1057 have diffferent transmissions .

The 1056 has 1" axles and the 1057 has 1 1/8" axles, as I expected.

What I did not expect, is that the 1056 axles are about 1" shorter on each side.

On the 1056, the hubs almost touch the transmission housing. There is only about

1/16" between the hub and the transmission with no axle sticking out of the outside end.

The 1057 when pushed out completely, has about an inch between the hub and the tranny. I assume this is correct.

Any comments?

Edit > I made the pics smaller.

thanks

Larry,

The 1056's Uni-Drive is a model 5053 and the 1057's Uni-Drive is a model 5058, both of these transmission have the same lay out except for the axle diameter and differential type. There is no marking for the transmissions identifacation you have to go by the tractors model number.

Yes the axles in a Uni-Drive model 5058 are much longer then a 5053, the 5053 was the standard three speed and will interchange with any three speed made from 1961 to 1969 (except mid engine Suburban models). The 5058 was also used in the larger Wheel Horse models 953 and 1054, hence the need for longer axles.

P.S. Great lookin' Wheel Horse ya' got! :hide::hide::D:omg: I love those mid 60's models.

Hey Bill,

Were those the only tractors to use the 5058 tranny?

I can use this info when looking for a replacement.

Mike,

I gather you are talking about a replacement transmission for your 1054A ... right? :hide:

The Wheel Horse models that used the Uni-Drive model 5058 are as follows

1057 and 1257.

The 5045, 5047 and 5051 in the 953, 1054 and 1054A (well you knew that one :hide: ) are of the same configuration as a 5058 and will interchange. :D
