mikeeyre74 289 #1 Posted August 31, 2016 I've got a k301 in a C120 that I bought a little while ago. Haven't used it much since I got it, but yesterday swapped over the deck and tried to mow with it. Lots of blue smoke coming from the front end of the engine, most likely the breather. I suspect lots of blow by... so I bring it around front to check out closer and thats when I hear what sounds like a really sweet drum solo, but is more likely my connecting rod. Hm. I have a k321out of an Alis Chalmers, serial number 3207639 Spec #60180a sitting on my bench right now.. the Alis is long gone, but her heart wants to beat some more. Is this a worth candidate for replacing the 12hp 301? Other than Carburetor and Oil pan, is there any other differences I need to know about or did I miss something completely? pfrederi 18,703 #3 Posted August 31, 2016 60180 shows up as being made for Simplicity and it has ball bearing so you are OK on the PTO end loading. Oil pan may not need swapping either. (I have a 301 from an Allis on a Electro 12. The carb should not need changing either. The only thing is you may find teh choke works backwards. i have a couple conversions with that issue. a sticker on the dash board to remind me is all it takes to fix that 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

mikeeyre74 289 #6 Posted August 31, 2016 I can confirm that it does have ball bearings, I just took the oil pan off to look. This oil pan won't work, because it isn't drilled for one side of the engine mounting bolts… I understand that Wheelhorse oil pans have engine mounting bolts that are peculiar to them. This one shows that to be true.
