Red Horse 33 #1 Posted December 30, 2008 Had a weird experience today that maybe some of you other guys have had, I don't know. I called up Toro and after the usual phone menu shuffle got to a live female voice with a bit of an attitude. I wanted to get a parts sheet exploded drawing and layout sheet for my 308-8. It was if she had no interest or recall of Wheel Horse! I'm trying to find a 308-8 shop manual , mower manual for a 37" side discharge, and a Kohler M8S manual. Is this the same story for getting parts from Toro as well??? Anyone who has the above manuals and wants to part with them please let me know. Toro is really weird. GlenPettit 1,717 #2 Posted December 30, 2008 When you call TORO, it's all in who does answer the phone. The older lady that usually answers is excellent, polite and is also the one who usually does make the copies for us. She has a good basic knowledge of the Wheel Horses and actually a very positive attitude. You must have gotten a "temp-" (working below her level, in her own eyes). For the manuals, you can find most of them in the links here, and making a print yourself on your own printer is usually a better copy anyway.
Duff 206 #3 Posted December 30, 2008 Red Horse, I'm pretty sure I've got the manual for the 37" SD deck. PM me your address and I'll see if I can make a clean copy and I'll mail it to you. Cheers! Duff :hide:
Red Horse 33 #4 Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks Duff and Glen Jeri. You wouldn't happen to know the name of the lady would you? It would sure help if I have to call again.
Rideawaysenior 25 #5 Posted December 30, 2008 Red, You can also get the Kohler manual from the Kohler website. It's free and no bitter people to deal with.
kpinnc 14,632 #6 Posted December 30, 2008 making a print yourself on your own printer is usually a better copy anyway. I completely agree. The "Best Copy Available" stuff you get from Toro is like a copy of a copy. Very poor quality in every case I ever received. Downloading them from Toro.com is much better, and free as opposed to the $4 or so for each one mailed to you. Lance, PM me with the part numbers of your tractor and the deck. I'll get you what I can and burn you a CD with it all on there. Besides, I still need to come by and check out the "new" 308-8. Kevin
Red Horse 33 #7 Posted December 30, 2008 Kevin, I sure appreciate it. It is appearing to me that this website is the REAL source for getting WH parts, help, advice etc. I'm not totally surprised by Toro's attitude but if they thought enough of WH to buy them out, why don't they treat Wh as a decent product line that people are still interested in? I will sent you a PM with the info as I have it.
GlenPettit 1,717 #8 Posted December 30, 2008 TORO does (or at least has so far) taken real good care of us, mainly at the big Wheel Horse show in June: They send one or two representatives (Ed Cole) each year, have given brand-new Wheel Horses as raffle prizes, and lots of little items. They have been very cooperative with letting some of us make parts and decals, and using their
sorekiwi 761 #9 Posted December 31, 2008 In amongst the chaos of the Yahoo groups is 8 groups containing PDF manuals for a lot of WH tractors and implements. Here's the kink to the main group, which does have a list of files available. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wheelhorsetr...yguid=312432833 You will have to join the group(s), but there is a lot of stuff available there.
