Recommended Posts

guys,

i just swapped a set of augs today from one to another and after looking at it tonight i noticed i may have out them on backwards...

If you were sitting on the tractor looking down at the top of the tires, which way should the VVVVVVV point?

thanks-

There's a lot of guys that swear that ags on the front wheels should point backwards. I've never had Ags on the front, so cant comment...

Steve,

The rears should be put on like the ones in Smitty's picture.

Steve the tread is pointed that way for the purpose of clealing the mud out , if you run the ags backward the mud will not fall out of the space created by the tread ridges, when the tire spins mud would slick over the intire tread area and it would be just like not haveing ags on at all, i think the wide area at the bottom of the v causes the mud to compact itself and would adhere to the tire

Unless your looking at it from underneath the tractor...

Then they point toward the back... :hide: :D

I agree :hide: with the way they are on Smitty's tractor. jerrell explained it very well in his post :D:hide: Sometimes we have put them backwards on the combine so we can backout of the mud holes when we have a wet fall :omg:

Yup, you just brought back some memories. I used to run duals on my Gleaner in wet years, they were mounted backwards so I had a set aiming both ways.

JIM_M I remember one year we had to wait for the ground to freeze, we would start around midnight and work until about 8:00 am. when the sun would make it greasy on top.
