vmen84 61 #1 Posted August 20, 2016 (edited) moweed the yard today the tractor ran great for about 45 minutes then stopped so I got off lifted the hood went to try to restart it Gasoline was dumping into the carburetor. I also let it set for 15 minutes and started right back up keep in mind I know nothing about tractors I looked in my manual as well I noticed there doesn't seem to be a fuel filter. My father-in-law it said there could be one or two issues something about some kind needle or some dirt or debris got in there also said to keep it from shutting off it should probably full throttle because of the heavy duty tractor but I'm not sure about that Edited August 20, 2016 by vmen84

Wildside 195 #4 Posted August 21, 2016 That sounds like whats happening Man, Tap on the bottom of the bowl with anything light, just enough to shake anything in there loose.
Retired Wrencher 5,812 #5 Posted August 21, 2016 vmen84 If the tapping helps try using some seafoam in the gas for a few tanks. This will help. Great stuff. Any auto store or cheap at Walmart. Give it a try I think you will like it.
cschannuth 3,817 #6 Posted August 21, 2016 Never, in my opinion, turn off an engine with the throttle wide open. Always idle them down for a few seconds to a minute or so depending on how hard you've been working them.
Wildside 195 #7 Posted August 21, 2016 Dude also after all that you may check your oil, make sure it don't smell like Gas. you may have left the gas on and sometimes the gas gets past the rings and into the oil.

Wheel-N-It 2,976 #9 Posted August 22, 2016 Don't shut the engine off with it running wfo. That is not a good idea. It is a good idea to remove the fuel bowl, dump out all the gas and trash, take a small wire brush and clean the inside of the bowl till it shines, wipe it clean and carefully put it back on the carb. Be careful with the gasket. You don't have to be a master mechanic to do this, but have your tractor on concrete or a piece of plywood. It's better to have a clean surface, that's all. Wildside 195 #11 Posted August 27, 2016 Yea should be a small plastic one right on the fuel line under gas tank.
