Skeeters65 45 #1 Posted August 20, 2016 Is the correct front tire size 4.80/4.00-8? Thats what my tractor has on it but it seems like it is doing a wheelie. Front end is much higher than the rear. Thanks
Wildhorse 303 #2 Posted August 20, 2016 That is correct size for front. Maybe the rears are wrong? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but pretty sure the fronts are correct.
AlwaysLookin80 1,308 #3 Posted August 20, 2016 Wildhorse is right those are correct, I just restored two 1960 burbans.
Jack45 69 #4 Posted August 20, 2016 That is correct. That is what my suburban has. The 4 wheel trailer has same size. I have had to swap the tires back and forth.
wallfish 18,154 #5 Posted August 20, 2016 Originals came filled for added weight. Stretching/wearing in a new belt helps. Drive it up to a wall and "wear it in" but be careful as you do it. Any paint on the pulleys will cause it to grab very quick instead of slipping as you let out the pedal slowly. Pulley grooves should be clean and smooth. Belt guard or "fingers" must be installed to support the belt
Racinbob 11,949 #6 Posted August 20, 2016 Do you have 6-12's on the rear?

Racinbob 11,949 #8 Posted August 20, 2016 (edited) Can you post a picture? I'd like to see how the front axle was put on. Edited August 20, 2016 by Racinbob

Ahhh, i read this quick and mistakenly thought he was doing wheelies. Think Bob is on the right track and the axle is installed upside down if the tractor has that much of a lift in the front.
Racinbob 11,949 #10 Posted August 20, 2016 Yea John, I kinda hated to ask but that's the only thing it can be if the tire sizes are correct.
Skeeters65 45 #11 Posted August 21, 2016 No the axle is right side up. It would be extremely noticeable if it wasn't. Might just be low air pressure in the rear tires. Front end is only a little higher than the rear. But noticeable.

" and " seems like it is doing a wheelie" but this last post states " Front end is only a little higher than the rear" Probably best to post pictures so we know what is going on!
