Correct size front tire on Suburban 400?

Recommended Posts

Is the correct front tire size 4.80/4.00-8?

Thats what my tractor has on it but it seems like it is doing a wheelie.  Front end is much higher than the rear.

Thanks

That is correct size for front. Maybe the rears are wrong? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but pretty sure the fronts are correct.

That is correct.  That is what my suburban has.  The 4 wheel trailer has same size.  I have had to swap the tires back and forth.

Originals came filled for added weight.

Stretching/wearing in a new belt helps. Drive it up to a wall and "wear it in" but be careful as you do it.

Any paint on the pulleys will cause it to grab very quick instead of slipping as you let out the pedal slowly. Pulley grooves should be clean and smooth.

Belt guard or "fingers" must be installed to support the belt

Do you have 6-12's on the rear?

 Can you post a picture? I'd like to see how the front axle was put on.

Ahhh, i read this quick and mistakenly thought he was doing wheelies.

Think Bob is on the right track and the axle is installed upside down if the tractor has that much of a lift in the front.

Yea John, I kinda hated to ask but that's the only thing it can be if the tire sizes are correct. :)

No the axle is right side up. It would be extremely noticeable if it wasn't.  Might just be low air pressure in the rear tires.

Front end is only a little higher than the rear. But noticeable.

Like it is doing wheelies?---- " seems like it is doing a wheelie"

Now I'm confused, first post states "  Front end is much higher than the rear. " and " seems like it is doing a wheelie"

but this last post states " Front end is only a little higher than the rear"

Probably best to post pictures so we know what is going on!
