WHX?? 51,820 #2 Posted August 19, 2016 I think we are gonna need pics from you skeeter!.... I don't have any at the moment but there should be two straps spot welded to the boutom side of the hood just fore and aft of the filler hole. They do break off so we have seen them pop riveted back on. They join together with a machine screw & nut on the underside. Kinda hard to explain but I am sure someone will chime in with a pic
Racinbob 11,952 #3 Posted August 19, 2016 Here's what Jim is talking about. Usually the straps are thinner but these are what was on mine. The thicker straps lowered the tank a bit so I extended the filler. Search around here and you'll find some are fabricated to the frame so the hood doesn't bear the weight of a full tank.

Skeeters65 45 #5 Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) Ok thanks guys. My hood doesn't have the straps in place. I guess I will be welding the straps back on. Not too keen on pop rivets. Thanks Edited August 19, 2016 by Skeeters65

The reason we find them broke of! You'll notice that in the Suburban 400 help needed thread there is a sediment. I was going to use one but changed my mind for those exact reasons. Nobody noticed that there wasn't a fuel like connected in that pic. I was rushing to get enough together and get a picture for the big show banner. I had to push it to the posing location

Save yer money Bob, got one for 12 bucks off flea bay and wouldn't stop leaking, bowl had a defect & had to use a bowl off a junk spare!
Racinbob 11,952 #9 Posted August 19, 2016 Not really Jim. At the time I thought I was going to use it. That's where I got mine too. After getting home from the show and finishing it up I just went with an inline filter. No leaky gas on the paint won out over the cool factor.
