powderfinger 24 #1 Posted August 15, 2016 I have specific symptoms....need help. after the engine warmed up for 10 mins or so, after a few stop/starts, I throttled up and it cut out. quickly dropping back to idle, it would run slowly fwd in any gear. if I throttled up it would cut out. KC9KAS 4,744 #3 Posted August 15, 2016 Due to the use of the Seafoam, you probably "cleaned" out the fuel tank, fuel line and other crap in the carb and it is clogging the main jet. Seafoam works really good, but unless all the crap gets sucked into the combustion chamber and burnt up, you sometimes have to clean up the carb! 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

953 nut 60,160 #8 Posted August 18, 2016 Coils and condensers can be temperature sensitive. when you shut down the engine while it is hot remove the condenser wire that connects to the "-" terminal of the coil and see if it will start; if it starts the condenser was probably the problem. An engine will run without a condenser but it is not good for the points. Don't continue to run it without a condenser. 48 minutes ago, powderfinger said: starts right up once it cools. What did you change to achieve this improvement? my apologies. to add that its not only starting up after being cold, but it will run at full throttle. that was my original issue. once it runs and warms up,it occasionally will cut out as I throttle up. if I quickly throttle down, it runs...... sorry for lack of clarity. perhaps I should run for public office.....lol 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
