kudzu3 323 #1 Posted August 11, 2016 The battery won't stay up on my '70 raider 10. I can get a lot of run time out of a battery charge, but eventually it gets weak and won't start. I've checked connections, but don't know what else to check, don't know much about Tecumseh (don't know much about any of them ). What charges the battery? Is there a generator/alternator somewhere? Thanks
Achto 29,298 #2 Posted August 11, 2016 The charging coil is under the fly wheel. It produces AC voltage then it is sent through a diode to convert it to DC power. If you Google Techumseh charging you will find a bunch of tips on checking the system. You will need a multi meter.

kudzu3 323 #4 Posted August 12, 2016 Thanks folks. When I got this tractor, the poles were switched on the battery connections, but I didn't notice it for a time. Looks like that may have been what caused the problem. Guess I'll probably be replacing stuff . I do appreciate the info.
