ACman 7,655 #1 Posted August 10, 2016 Have idea of building a wheel chair with a A81/111 mower . Thought I had one lined up for purchase this weekend , but my hopes are dashed . I want to use the tub manly and use wheel chair parts for the rest . My thoughts were to have my drive wheels centered under the machine , tucked up underneath kinda hidden . The four outside wheels on casters . So just like my chair it would be a true zero turn . My seat would be able to swivel for easy transfers and have my joystick control mounted on it . Don't know if I should keep steering wheel just for looks . I think this would be a good project not just for me but for anyone who'd like to tool around on a mower , rather than a chair or hoveround . So for now plan is on back burner until I can acquire a mower (cheap) . So in meantime if this will inspire someone else to build something like this , go for it . I'd love to see it happen .

I saw one in Atchison, KS on eBay for parts. The starting bid was less than $100 I think.
ACman 7,655 #10 Posted August 10, 2016 It's off to the swap meet this weekend for that one . For me it time , logistics , help , and a little shortage of cash as that ones twice the price . I'm also already committed on buying a tractor this weekend . I got him down to $125 but he won't hold it . The other one got sold out from underneath me .
ACman 7,655 #11 Posted August 11, 2016 Ok , here's my dilemma . I know this is orange , and the guy has been working with me . It's all original 65 , 7hp but it has a rod knock he thinks . It don't blow smoke and has real good compression . I don't want to be that man , going back on his word . What sucks is this A81 looks to have a perfect seat , which I could use . Also the engine would work in the simplicity , if that engine is toast . This guy won't hold it for me . First come first serve , and the wife has already made plans for use Friday and Saturday . Timing just sucks .

That's a nice Simplicity by the way. Are you thinking of buying it for the engine? Maybe I don't understand???

CasualObserver 3,411 #15 Posted August 15, 2016 Way to go Mike!! @ol550 If you're going to Scott's does that mean you're not coming up here in a couple weeks? Jeff, I'll be looking forward to updates... this sounds like one cool build.
