OhioGuy89 4 #1 Posted August 9, 2016 Hi all, I'm sad to report in the process of getting ready to move, my mom has sold our last wheel horse of the three we had This has me rather upset, as she said she'd think about keeping it. It was a 1992 520H, and it had the 60 inch deck, snowblower, dozer blade, and rear belt-driven roto tiller. The Onan was getting rough, as it had about 900 hours on it, and probaly needed a rebuild. When I asked her how much she got for all that, she said $ 1,000 to some trailer salesman. My main question is, did she get ripped off? I feel she should have got more than that for all of it. AMC RULES 37,196 #2 Posted August 9, 2016 Not a bad price... especially if that Onan needed rebuilt.
OhioGuy89 4 #3 Posted August 9, 2016 Hmm... I guess the attachments must not be worth as much as I thought?
AMC RULES 37,196 #4 Posted August 9, 2016 What were you thinking... attachment wise?
OhioGuy89 4 #5 Posted August 9, 2016 What do you mean? The attachments are the ones listed in my opening post.
kudzu3 323 #6 Posted August 9, 2016 Well, we don't know the condition of the tractor, maintenance record, appearance and such, it's mighty hard to speculate about the price, but she probably did okay. Maybe you can get another one day to take it's place, we hope so .
JAinVA 4,638 #7 Posted August 9, 2016 OHIOGuy, $1000 dollars seems low for a 92 520h and the attachments you listed.Prices are subjective, but condition and hours matter. The 92 had the gear reduction steering that everyone wants. Those listed here are by far the most reasonably priced. The tiller is highly sought after and a 60" deck as well. Some here may disagree but I feel she should have gotten twice what she did .JMHO,JAINva
Shuboxlover 481 #8 Posted August 9, 2016 If everything was in good to very good condition.... Tiller.....$300-$350 60" deck....$400-$500 Blade....if it's a 48"....$250 Also depends on what type of snow blower it was....and if it's in season Least valuable....short chute single stage....~$250 medium value....tall chute single stage.....~$300-$350 HIGH value....tall chute dual stage.....this one can catch at least twice as much as the others. ~$500++ That's just what I have seen (or sold these items for) I wouldn't say your mom got taken, but I would have given $1000 for everything. Just my 2 cents....
bmsgaffer 2,053 #9 Posted August 9, 2016 I would say your mom was happy to get $1000 and the salesman was happy to get the package for that price, so it was worth exactly that. No more, no less. As others have stated, its hard to give fair value because condition plays a HUGE role followed closely by location, but most of all its just random. There are no value guides or books and some people all within the same city can pick up a low hours mint machine for nothing and others will be paying gold prices for scrap metal. If everyone was happy then she did just fine. You should keep an eye out on CL and our classifieds here, you may find yourself another package with a solid engine that will get you back into the RED. An Onan rebuild could have run you well over $1000, so you may find another one you like even better!
RubyCon1 63 #10 Posted August 9, 2016 would it not have been a better idea to ask this question on the forum BEFORE selling it instead of afterwards?

Exactly my thought when I read the original post.Ya know the old saying."Lock the barn door after the horse ran away" Actually a Wheel Horse. We all dwell on selling items after the sale is complete. Ken B 3,189 #12 Posted August 9, 2016 Anytime you sell things as a package the purchaser almost always gets a better deal. Ya gotta remember, your Mom wanted that stuff gone and selling it as a lot was the easiest route for her. I'd say all things considered she did okay...
