Rollerman 290 #2 Posted December 26, 2008 Nice pics Henry, I especially like the look of the Levers with spoke rims in front. Both of mine have the cast front rims. I need to get cracking & get mine finished.....mostly needing tires. Tire prices have really shot up in the size needed for the Levers too. :hide:

BPjunk 184 #11 Posted December 29, 2008 Henry, One of the stories I tell 'bout Levers and Seniors is the one from Norm Steinman's auction. A day before the auction we were millin' 'round the grounds lookin' at the 1946 Lever and the hooded Senior that were to be auctioned off the next day. Eventuly we sat down with two older guys at the auction and I said to them "Ya' see those two garden tractors over there? That's $10,000 sittin' there." ...... Well they looked at me and chuckled "Yeah sure kid now go away and play with your little tractors." <_< On auction day the auctioneer started out by auctioning off small items off that were placed on a four wheeled wagon to warm up the crowd. Then the auctioneer went right to the row of Wheel Horses that had the Senior and Lever steer. The first was a rear engined rider that only brought 15 bucks, then a Lawn Ranger in nice shape went for $250.00. A older restoed RJ-35 with a dissasembled Clinton engine realized after the bidding was over $450.00. Now the Senior came up for auction and this was the tractor I drive 750 miles to get. Dressed in my red shirt and white pants with only the bid taker standin' between me and the auctioneer ..... no way was any of my biddin' going to be missed! The bid taker took a look at the Senior to tell the crowd what kind of tractor this is and jus' read the decal on the hood which only says WHEEL HORSE South Bend, Indiana, the biddin' started at $500.00. I jus' stood there only raisin' my hand when the auctioneer needed a bid from me. After what seemed like a eternity to me the auction was over for the Senior with my winnin' bid of $3,000. A few tractors down this very same row was the Lever steer that had a winin' bid of $6,100 to John Frock a Wheel Horse collector in Westminster, Maryland. OK now lets think here a minute .... the Senior sold at $3,000 and the Lever's winnin' bid was $6,100 .... add them up and you get for a price total $9,100 and I was not far off from the $10,000 I told the two older guys the day before. Tennessee Country Boy 0 #12 Posted December 30, 2008 hey Bill, Great story  :horseplay: you know that it would take that amount to get mind and they are restored, if I was wanting to sell both. I have a good story about finding my Senior I will have to tell on here one day. Henry
