All "Black Hoods" are not Black Hoods are they?

Was looking at a photo of a C-175, and unlike about every other one I have seen, the top of the hood was red. Only the grille/front was black. What year did they do that? From what I could tell from the photo, it was the original finish.

I bet it was a repaint...a very good repaint of course. To the best of my knowledge all of the C-85 to C-195s are black on top.

I see a lot of black hoods that have been painted red on CL etc...

Gotta wonder why.

Love the black hoods.

Because it is hard to mask off and paint the center black.  I am not into body work.  i paint only for corrosion control.
