midxmidwest 8 #1 Posted July 21, 2016 I hate this stuff. Made some new straps and was wondering if anyone has tried to JBWeld (glue) them on. I figured welding them on would burn the paint off and I was hoping to not repaint the hood at this time. Thank You, Dave
Achto 26,609 #2 Posted July 21, 2016 I don't think glue would hold, not in this application any way. Looks like your old straps had been bolted in. I would just bolt your new straps in for now and worry about welding when you decide to repaint the hood.
ACman 7,557 #3 Posted July 21, 2016 Go to a body shop and see if they could use some panel bond . This stuff is crazy strong ! IMO , I wouldn't use the plumbers strap either. Make your own , with thin strips of metal ( a HVAC or body shop might have some scraps ) . This should fix your problem .
stevasaurus 22,237 #4 Posted July 22, 2016 As long as the holes are already there, using stove bolts may not look too bad. They will sit nice on the hood, and you can get them from ACE or TSC.
