My father in law recently purchased a GT -14 ,Over the weekend was my first time operating it .I thought it seemed fine while mowing but when I stopped at the bottom of the barn hill and tried to go up it ,it just would not do it . Im hoping this is just a slipping belt ????

More than likely, the GT-14 has a worn out Sundstrand Hydrogear power unit model 90-2062....the only cure is a rebuild.  I have rebuilt many of these and MAY be able to do the same for yours.

If you want to pursue this, contact me at the following email address so I can provide cost and timing estimates.  I am:

Was the engine running at near wide open throttle? If you moved the motion controller all the way forward did it take off? Have the fluid and filter been changed? How well did it operate in reverse? If you download the manual you will see a trouble shooting chart that could be helpful.
