Jerry77 1,218 #1 Posted July 14, 2016 Anyone know the physical location of the 9 position electrical strip ? Found electric schematics of the 516h and 520hc for 1988-1989 on the web. Shows the wiring of the tractor, including a strip with 9 terminals on it, but if it has a 9 position strip on it - I can't find it.. Want to get the lights working ( jumper them and they both work )- bypass the switch ( which is bad ) and only one works..I want to trace the whole thing. djohn24 10 #4 Posted July 14, 2016 It wasn't perfect help but, there is a lot of post on here about the 9-pin connectors. Sometimes they need replaced or just a good cleaning. I have a 520H that kept shutting off while running. I cleaned the connector and it hasn't done it since! If you found the 9-pin connector, that's all that matters! You're welcome! Jerry77 1,218 #5 Posted July 15, 2016 Found it oK...thanks...connector was good, but the power wire from there over the top of the engine to the bottom front for the headlights was broken somewhere in the engine confines - had a heavy cable that I threaded thru and got the lights going - thought the switch was bad too, but it just needed some PB blaster - really good stuff for electrical connections and switches - works great on car door switches too.. anyway all is good now.. thanks 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
djohn24 10 #6 Posted July 16, 2016 Awesome! Glad to hear! I have a 516 H too, been sitting for many years. It had a broken connecting rod in the Onan and the previous owner was going to junk the whole tractor. I have had a machine shop hone the cylinders and do the valves and polish the crank. The block is in good specs now. Bought used rods off of ebay "had machine shop check them too" and am going to put new rings and pistons in. I will try and upload some pictures tomorrow. I didn't want to see this Wheel Horse go for junk so I am trying to save it. Just been a little lazy at getting the engine back together! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
djohn24 10 #7 Posted July 17, 2016 Here are some of the 516H pics. The PO bought it new in 87 or 88 , Or whatever year it was available, only made 1 year from what I know. PO used it summer and winter until a rod broke in 2001. He was told that the cylinder wall was scored to deep for a bore. So he was just going to junk it. I took a look at it and didn't see any deep scoring. I took it a local machine shop and they said cylinder wall was fine and honing was all it needed. Jerry77 1,218 #10 Posted July 24, 2016 Good looking 516 -- the paint on mine is not as good, but it runs strong..hydro is strong too. I gave my 314-8 to my son and bought this 516 because it has the electric lift on it....I needed that... so I have a snow blade on it and weights etc and waiting on snow...( don't mind waiting either ) the original fuel pump as weak so I put an electric pump on...really like that - they only made the 516h one year ( 1988 ) with hydro and manual lift. hope you get it running soon. thanks for pics Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
