Teddy da Bear 11 #1 Posted December 23, 2008 A new neighbor moved in....built a home. My friend spied a wheel horse sitting out back of his home. We went to welcome the new neighbors and conversaion lead to the tractor. Wife said "you want it?" "It's yours" (husband was not home) I told her I did not feel right about taking a tractor. But that is what she said. So we went out to investigate the tractor. She said "it runs" It is a mid 70's C-120 hydro! I already have one... It is not wrong to have two is it?? Got an email from the husband and he said "it's yours" :horseplay: I will get some pics as soon as I can. He said it is buried in a snowdrift and will get back to me when the weather clears. rondo 0 #10 Posted December 24, 2008 Geez, Mike, you're kinda like my idol. Free tractor - awesome. Last time I got something for free it was a dog. He decided at some point to "build a fort" out of my neighbors shrubs. Cost me $300. Guess that isn't actually free...
Teddy da Bear 11 #11 Posted December 24, 2008 Geez, Mike, you're kinda like my idol Wow......never been an idol before... I hope I can live up to it! And there have been others to get Freebies..... Doc you actually been crying for a lost horse? I saw the neighbor out with his plow truck trying to get to the horse. But it is "pouring rain" right now (why couldn't it be snow?). Likely have to get it after Christmas day.
Duff 206 #12 Posted December 24, 2008 I saw the neighbor out with his plow truck trying to get to the horse. Maybe you'll find it under the tree tomorrow morning.....? Duff :hide:

If somebody wants to leave a 'Horse under MY tree I'll leave the door unlocked. And move the other packages out of the way. And leave a light on. And some milk and cookies. :omg:
Stigian 1,234 #15 Posted December 25, 2008 A free C-120!! You lucky so and so Mike The big question is................ When are you going to show us some pic's of it :hide:
Teddy da Bear 11 #16 Posted December 25, 2008 Ian.....likely will be Saturday as we are expecting 55 degree weather! All the snow will be gone... Linen...... you left out the "red" carpet treatment (wheel horse red of course!) :hide:
Teddy da Bear 11 #17 Posted December 25, 2008 Well....you guys were right about it. Now he wants $75 for it. Still a good price, but nobody is going to take advantage of me especially when they told me "I could have it" and I did a good deed for them. I told them "I would pass on it"....."thanks anyway". But I am not sad about losing the horse.... I am sad that people just don't have integrity anymore. They are only hurting themselves in the long run.
pond195520032003 27 #18 Posted December 26, 2008 I am sorry you didnt get the horse did not want it to turn out like that thats just the way some people are(not everyone) tell you one thing and do something else you know he will want something in the future and you can say no thanks :hide:
Teddy da Bear 11 #19 Posted December 26, 2008 Yup Pond.....I don't wish any bad on anyone.. But I know the Lord has a way of evening things out. You do something wrong in this world....you'll be tested on down the road for it. No worries..... I still had a nice Christmas. Wife told me so! :hide:
Duff 206 #20 Posted December 26, 2008 Sorry for the bad news, Mike. But as you pointed out, the Lord has a way of evening things out - and not necessarily in the form of "pay back" as we know it in this life! Maybe there's a way to save face all the way around, perhaps going back to the guy and saying something to the effect of, "Hey, I'm sorry - I misunderstood you at first. I thought you just wanted it out of your way. I'm interested, but the best I can give you is fifty bucks in this economy." If he balks, then it's his loss both morally and financially, and either way you're still the bigger man. Just MHO..... Hope you had a good Christmas nonetheless! Duff :D
Craig Arndt 6 #21 Posted January 3, 2009 How do you do that? How do you honestly tell someone its "yours" and then say, well give me $75? What is $75. Think about it. We'd all gladly take $75, but would you hold someone up for it? No, you wouldn't. So how can you do that to a neighbor much less, another person. Hope that fella has his latest tetanus shot, I hear that old Wheel Horse Rust can kick real good.
JimD 3,345 #22 Posted January 3, 2009 sorry to it went sour teddy, but in the long run, it didn't take long to find out what kind of new neighbor you have. some people don't know what integrity is, i guess. and i'm humbled by your statement about not wishing bad on anyone. you are the man of integrity in this situation. just my $.
64s 83 #23 Posted January 3, 2009 i'm humbled by your statement about not wishing bad on anyone. you are the man of integrity Amen to WHHRSFAN. The real lesson isn't the neighbor backing out of a promise, it's Teddy da Bear's answer to the situation. We don't know the neighbor's motivation - ya probably greed, but we truely don't know. Who knows, when the snow all melts in the spring, maybe the neighbors heart will also and Teddy will have a new tractor. If not, he's still the better man!!!! :hide:
Teddy da Bear 11 #24 Posted January 3, 2009 Geeez guys.....your giving me a swelled head....lol You guys are the best...thanks truely for the kind words. I emailed the new neighbor the other day and wished them a "happy and healthy New Year" (on New Years Day) .........got no response.... :hide:
