Biel 0 #1 Posted July 12, 2016 Hi, does anyone know where I can get front wheels for a 1961 401 suburban, of wheels that will work with that off set? thanks Biel
Achto 29,408 #2 Posted July 12, 2016 Unfortunately a lot of the original wheels for those things fell victim to calcium chloride. They filled the front tires with it from the factory for weight. While it gets along great with rubber, it loves to eat metal . So if you had a leak in the tube your rim would start corroding shortly there after. Most are reluctant to let go of a good set of rims, but if you are patient you may find a pair. You could also use a newer set of 8" rims and add spacers to the axle to make up for a narrower hub if needed.
