BESTDOGEVER 218 #1 Posted July 7, 2016 Has anyone ever done a conversion of the kohler 17 magnum vertical engine to horizontal it has mounting plate for both applications my first plan was to scavenge it to rebuild my m18 and replace the onan in my 518 but if converting it is easier I would do that
Aldon 4,828 #2 Posted July 7, 2016 look on Millers Pulling website. I believe there is a detailed section on converting if I recall.
BESTDOGEVER 218 #3 Posted July 8, 2016 Thanks Aldon would you by chance have a link to that site. The things that I am hoping to solve are what changes need to be done to the oil pump, how to seal the oil fill/dipstick tube I have the right intake manifold the rest is pretty simple
BESTDOGEVER 218 #4 Posted July 13, 2016 I just thought I'd share some of the things I noticed while trying to find more info on this engine. All the parts lists that I looked up had the same bearings and thrust washer listed both horizontal and vertical, is it possible that all the kohler engines are able to work with the side pull people? The only thing that seemed to change was the crankshaft and carburetor. Has anyone else seen this?
