K241 not getting fuel

Recommended Posts

TIGman

Was driving the 1054 around the yard yesterday late afternoon and it stalled out. Got to looking this morning checking things out and the fuel line at the gas tank sediment bulb/fuel filter I was able to pull off with my fingers. So after replacing old fuel line and cleaning the tank filter hooked line up to fuel pump and tried to start it. It is not getting fuel past the pump.... The Kohler K241 runs fine on what fuel I put in past the fuel pump.  Do I have to prime the fuel pump?

Also the little lever on the left side of the photo seems to have a spring attached but I notice no detectable spring pressure.  Thanks! for the help.

That is the primer lever, it moves the diaphragm to prime prior to starting. After a few pumps you should hear a change of sound as the float bowl fills.

...and if that don't get it...the diaphragm may be toast.

Pretty sure member Buckrancher(Brian) here on :rs:, sells the rebuild kits for them.

I'll be looking for a rebuild kit or fuel pump. Just does not seem to be working consistently.

 A little update!!

Replaced the fuel strainer/ sediment bowl at the gas tank, all new fuel line from tank to carb, and a tank of 91 octane gas /ethanol free. :)

The 1054 and K241 are purring again!!

The culprit was the plugged fuel strainer at the tank, fuel pump was working fine. :handgestures-thumbupright:
