PULLEY SIZE ON NON-ELECTRIC CLUTCHES?

Recommended Posts

ronhatch

I wondering if all non-electric clutch pulleys are the same diameter?

I'm thinking about speeding up the deck RPM by installing a slightly larger clutch pulleys if some models came with a larger clutch pulleys then my C-101. It would be a lot easier to install a smaller driven deck pulley. I feel that pulley is already pretty small, but maybe, going down by a 1/2" diameter would still be OK?? I know I can't over speed the deck too much because of overloading the 10 HP Kohler.  Comments please. .

I'm pretty sure the drive pulleys are all the same size.

Maximum blade tip speed is 19,200 feet per minute.

What is the width of cut of this deck?

M C-101 has a 42" SD deck. I kinda figured that the clutch pulleys were all the same, but I though I would ask anyway. It just seems like all the newer mowers runs there blades a lot faster then our older tractors do.

Have a photo tachometer?

A 14" blade turning 5,238 rpm gives a blade tip speed of 19,200 feet per minute.

I am not so sure about that.  The Consumer Product Safety Commission limited tip speed several years ago ...but long after our older horses were produced

I have a SMALLER 2-belt CENTER deck pulley that MAY suit your needs.  It is about 1/2" smaller on the TOP, so all 3 blade spindles would pick up some speed...not sure how much.  This iis a NEW pulley and if you want pics and price, send me a direct email...(off forum, that is)
