I need some pics please

Recommended Posts

Peli

hello all I just acquired a 416-H that has been taken apart part of the way

I have never worked on small tractors but have lots of experience working on cars and trucks and larger equipment.

my problem I am having is I do not have a service manual for this tractor and I am missing some relays and other things on this tractor

if any of you could post up a pic or two of your 416-H with the battery removed or know of what relays might be near the battery I could use some help.

I have been trying to find a service manual in pdf but have not had any luck.

in the next day or so I will post up some pics of what I am dealing with I am using a friends computer and I did not bring my link cable to up load my pics to photo bucket.

thanks in advance for info I hate starting out with posting like this on new forums but I searched for manuals and could not find what I was looking for.

thanks again

Simon

Hi, Simon! :hide:

Please do NOT apologize for asking for help - that's what this place is all about, and folks love to pitch in with ideas and information :omg:

One of the fellows with more experience should be along to help you shortly, and I'll bet somewhere there's a link to a downloadable manual. :D

Again :omg: , and keep the questions, updates and pictures coming!

:hide: , Simon.

We need a little more information since the 416-H was built for about 8 or 9 years. There were slight changes from year to year, so in order to help you we need to know either the model number or year of your tractor.

joebob has got the link to the first place I would try. You should be able to print the scymatic for it and take it out to your shop.

On that Toro link you can also go to the "parts finder" link.

Re-enter your model info there and it will show you some

isometric drawings of your tractor assembly.

If you don't find what you need there in drawings.....

You can also go to Patstree.com they have some more drawings

and parts you can order.

Not anything you can't clean up, by any means.

The first pic with the loose wires appear to be from a missing rectifier. Not hard to find at all. As a matter of fact, the rectifier is attached to the engine shroud on an Onan, so you may still have it. The wires have to be removed to pull the shroud.

The second is the PTO safety interlock switch. That switch prevents the engine from cranking if the PTO is engaged, and also shuts off the ignition if you leave the seat with the PTO engaged. Kind of a "dead man switch". The switch is still available from Toro.

I would think twice about power washing this time of year. If water gets into someplace it shouldn't and freezes you'll have different problems pop up. In fact high pressure water around electrical systems isn't really a good idea any time of the year. That's just my two cents.

thanks guys this helps a lot I don't think the rectifier is on the shroud what rectifier would this be on this tractor I checked this sites http ://www.rcpw.com parts list and there are about 20 different ones to choose from.

lucky for me in one way is I have a local wheel horse dealer that can order what ever parts I need but they fix them so they are not the most helpful for info.

if I can find the parts numbers I need I would rather order the parts online for cheaper though.

anyway thanks again you are helping me out greatly.

Plug the part number of the tractor (not model number) into Partstree.com, and it will display the same parts drawings you'll find at Toro.com- but with a price list!

You should be able to find the rectifier number that way...

The rectifier will probably be expensive, but they are available on Ebay rather often too.

Buzz is correct but if you can store it in a warm place then go for it

thanks again from looking at the starter switch's mine may be missing one post also it has 4 posts and the plug has 5 contacts and the switch looks like it had one more at one time that and in the bag of bolts and parts there was a bag for a new switch but no new switch :hide:

as for a dry warm aera my garage is heated with wood heat so after I wash it I will keep the fire stoked up for the and night with a fan on it if I did not have the wood stove I would wait until the spring to wash it and work on it cold steel can leave nasty bruises.

well I have bigger problems then a missing rectifier DSC03801.jpg

so new question I found a vertical onan motor for really cheap 30$ so my question can I pull parts from it for my motor or can I swap parts from mine to the other <-hope this makes sense.

but both motors look the same thanks again.

if this dose not work out what is a good cheaper replacement motor for this tractor.

You said a verticle Onan- you will need a horizontal one.

the cylinder wall is very clean and has no scores in it so I am hoping I will be able to have the cylinder honed and the crank turned and install a new push rod, piston and bearing set.

I guess before I actually pay to have the block & crank machined are these onan engines worth having fixed? or would I be better off buying another engine off of another tractor or just scraping the thing out for parts.

I am in for 400$so far with a snow plow a 52" mowing deck and a PTO tiller for it and a none running tractor. what do you guys think.

this was bought on craigslist and we where told it just stopped working and would not start now I think it had to of made a hell of a noise before it stopped running.

anyway thanks for any input.

I just cannot justify spending 1200$ or more for a new motor right now when my 76 runs and cut grass fine and that one my father did a lot of the welding fabrication on them in the late 70's in northern indiana :hide:

I know the one I can buy for 30$ is a vertical but when I was looking over it is almost the same as my motor from what I can tell it may just be switching over some internals the oil pan, exhaust and carb at least I am hoping that is the case.

I have found that most older Japanese engines they tried to keep the same block at least with the cars they liked to work off of the same platform as much as possible.

it cut back on production costs and having to switch over production lines to keep up with the demand.
