wh 857 how mower deck blade's engauge?

Hi I was wondering if anyone who has one of these wheel horse 857 8hp k181s tractor's could explain how this mower blade set up engages? Do you have to continuously hold the pedal down or is there a way to lock it down that I have missed. the belt that is on is incorrect I still have to pick one up I just left it on for the picture of the assembly. Thank's for any help, Steve.

Apply pressure to the trip lever on the side of the pedal. The spring will pull the pedal and idler back so there is tension on the belt. Stepping on the large pedal will release the belt tension and allow the trip lever to latch and hold the linkage in the off position once agaiin.

Thank's  gwest_ca, that work's as it should. that's good on less thing I will have to work on I guess. The belt is the correct one also it looked like it was bigger then was needed. I am posting a another problem in the electrical section that maybe you might be able to help with also. But thank's again it is greatly appreciated,  steve
