Electro 12 Question

Recommended Posts

jnbimplements

I pulled the shroud off my Kohler engine that's on my Electro 12 and I noticed there is a small electronic device bolted to the block that senses the flywheel and it has two wires coming out of it but the wires are not hooked up to anything. The little device is apprx 1" square and looks like a miniature ignition coil or at least that what it reminds me of.  What would this sensor be?

Thanks,

John

That's the "trigger switch" for the breakerless ignition. If the wires aren't connected to anything, it's probably been converted to points.

OK Thanks IRV.  Yes the engine does have points.

Take it off and test it if it works it is a $100+ item.....It may have been the coil that died not the trigger leading to the change over of ignition systems.
