Teddy da Bear 11 #1 Posted December 20, 2008 I found that my GT-14 front tire was flat.... Rotted too, so jacked it up to replace it. Took out the cotter pin and castellated nut. (seems like overkill). Removed the tapered roller bearing and the rim and tire will still not come off the axle! It rocks back and forth like it is loose but something is keeping it from coming off. Got any ideas?
Brrly1 1,146 #2 Posted December 20, 2008 Teddy Break out the 20 lbs sledge and give her a bump! There two cup bearings in the back side possibly ran out of grease and adhesed itself to the shaft or basically rusted itself to shaft. Good Luck Burly Is this the Bandit or the loader? ol550 830 #3 Posted December 20, 2008 The inner bearing race is most likely stuck on the spindle. If you can tap the wheel off the seal will stay on the spindle with the bearing. Then you can deal with getting the bearing off. Mike
Teddy da Bear 11 #4 Posted December 20, 2008 Thank you guys.... I did wail on it with a rubber mallet and the lead hammer. (did not budge) I am thinking if the grease has hardened.....maybe a popane torch would soften it up a bit? Won't catch fire will it? (never heated grease before unless it was for french fries... ) It is the GT with the loader Burly.....
Brrly1 1,146 #5 Posted December 20, 2008 Teddy You just need to give me a call and I will come pick that up and take it off of your hands. Did you ever the charging system working? Still looking for a loader! Hopefully one day soon I will find one. Like I said that inner race has ran out of grease and probably has rusted to the shaft. Just be cautious and don't hit anything but the wheel. You hit yourself in leg or on the hand it is libale to hurt which can be painful! Me I am headed to the garage to get it straighted around so I can atleast walk in ther without climbing over everything. Good Luck Burly P.S. I will leave you my cell # in case you want me to come pick up Loader! 419-290-5623 :omg:
Teddy da Bear 11 #6 Posted December 20, 2008 Burly...... For you that Gt loader ship has sailed my friend....lol I know you dying for one... A flat tire does not a loader "for you" make.... I am making arrangements to be buried with it.... In fact maybe they can use it to dig my grave in the first place! I do not recall having a problem with the charging system. I wrote in that old post that the tank was plugged up. You again at that time thought I should sell it to you rather than fix it. :D
