Are these tires too far gone?

Recommended Posts

I just picked these both up the other night and I'm planning on everything I'll need to restore them. I plan on working the 656 and basically just gonna keep the 702 for fun. But anyway theses tires are slightly dry rotted and I believe there original, so my question is there a way to kind of restore rubber or at least maybe save them to keep it original as possible? And also how can I stop the pictures from uploading sideways?

There is a tire paint that works real well.

My tires on my 854 are dry rotted worse than that but they had tubes so I'm going to run them to see if I want to keep the same style or get something different.

If you upload your pictures on your computer first, and then load to Red Square...that should solve it.  :)

Maybe turn your camera 90 degrees (sideways).

I don't judge by tread or dry rot , if they hold air ,they are still good ,

Tread looks better than some of mine.  Just keep inner tubes in them, and try some tire paint for appearance (m.e.miller tire) like the used car dealers do it.

I like the old zig zag tire treads better than the new turf tires, especially if you're doing a restoration.

I use miller's tire pant and it works really well. Those are good original tires to save. I never tried the ryglde but Craig swears by it.

That looks to be an aftermarket seat cover.  You can find them on Ebay.

I find if you resize the picture a tiny bit and save they alway face the right way.
