86 312-A Stalling Seems like it's running out of gas. Will run ok for a few min. Then only with choke on a little bit Then runs ok for a few min. more. I just filled with gas. Al fluids are ok. I did find darn thing doesn't have a fuel filter on it. Need suggestion of what fuel filter to install ? Any suggestion on what else ?

The screen in the tank may be clogged

I'd clean or remove it and add an inline filter.

                                                                                :text-yeahthat:

Also  try loosening the gas tank cap...the vent hole could be plugged.

Screen was messed up. I removed it  Installed  a fuel filter. But had to get a new rubber grommet. Removed gas cap Still running the same. Removed carb Seems to be pretty clean in the bowl.  I will tear it apart and soak it in carb cleaning machine for a while. Gas line from the fuel pump to carb needed replaced anyway.

Test the fuel supply to the carb by removing the line at the carb.   Then while holding the line in a container, have someone crank the engine, You should see a good strong spurting from the fuel pump.   This is also a good way to clean out any debris after changing lines, filters fuel pumps, , etc. before it gets pushed into the carb.

I got the carb torn down. Nothing like a motorcycle carb. :no:On a motorcycle when you have to run the engine with the choke. It's the low speed needle that has some on the holes plugged. I can see the main needle, but have no idea how to get to it.

Gas comes out spurting as the engine cranks over.

Left in Altra Sonic Carb cleaner for 1 hour. Put it back together Made preset adjustments Now to re install on engine and see how it runs, FYI Goldwing and VTX carbs are a lot easier to clean  LOL.

Well Engine seems to be running well, Better than it ever has. Now I notice the Governor Kicking in. I think the carb needs some adjustment Any procedure that's best ?
