If I had one to sell I could only get $100 out of it, but if I wanted to buy one it would cost $1000!

Luck & location play a big part!

It amazes me the number of attachments I see guys out east buying and trading, yet here in Indiana, I hardly see attachments for sale, other than decks and snow blowers.

Come south to southwest Virginia where I live, you won't find much of anything and when you do you have some serious road time to look at it!

Even though the tractor was made in Indiana, more were sold in the east like OH, PA. Then they took a swing up to the New England states. When we were a dealer years ago we were told non were sold west of the Mississippi River wheather that's true or not I am not sure.

30 + years ago there was a W/H dealer in Mexico Missouri and that's about 80 miles west of the big muddy. And one in Centraila Mo. another 20 miles west of Mexico Mo. and for sure one in KCMO.:twocents-02cents:

There's been a dealer in Washington, MO as long as I can remember. And I'm pretty old.

Not sure of the name of the establishment or the exact location, but an old timer friend of mine bought a Wheel Horse back in the late 60s/early 70s brand new from a friend of his who was a dealer somewhere here in NW Oklahoma. Not sure but my 1277 may have came from same dealer...I do know it was bought brand new by a doctor who was a lifetime resident of our little town. From what I understand there were not near as many sold west of the Mississippi, and it does make them hard to find out here, but there were a few dealers out west.

Not to hi-jack the thread here, but thanks for chiming in here guys about dealers out west. Really don't here much of dealers out that a way. Come to think of it I did know of one dealer out I think it was in Eastern Iowa.

It's all about usage. If you're only mowing an acre or two, your parts last longer than a guy doing the back 40. Dealers are tough unless you are one of their "guys", meaning you get the first call when something comes in. I like private sales. I'll tell you what I see a lot though, old guys passing and his kids/grandkids either think the old tractor/accessory is gold, or basically gives it away. Not too much in between. The key is to be patient find the latter. :)

True or not, just that that comment was even made is interesting!  They reached the awareness and sales figures without really penetrating west of the big river?  Darn!
