JPWH 6,363 #1 Posted June 8, 2016 My k181 reaches 3600 rpm at half throttle. I have followed all the adjustment procedures for the carb and governor. I did replace the cam with a one piece. New piston and rings, new rod. The governor shaft only moves so far in either direction. Starts and runs good. I was thinking maybe a throttle stop? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Achto 29,408 #2 Posted June 8, 2016 Try putting the throttle linkage in the lower hole on governor arm and in the hole closest to the shaft on the carburetor. If this is not the set up you all ready have.
JPWH 6,363 #3 Posted June 8, 2016 I have done that already. It helped improve the length of response but only a slight difference in rpm.

JPWH 6,363 #6 Posted June 8, 2016 I had it it the farthest hole to start with and the top hole on the governor. Then read a post about using the closest hole so I did that. Then I changed to the bottom hole on the governor. The only signifant change I noticed was better throttle control. The rpm is still about 3600 at 1/2 throttle. 953 nut 60,220 #7 Posted June 8, 2016 Have you tried moving the throttle cable a little in the clamp at the governor on the engine, On most of mine I have to move the throttle about 1/3 of the way before I see any RPM change.
JPWH 6,363 #8 Posted June 8, 2016 I have tried moving the cable. It's almost like the carburetor is the culprit. I have not loaded it up yet except to ride it. It runs good .

JPWH 6,363 #10 Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) It is. My Son had it adjusted where it would not do this but I did not like the way the throttle operated so I changed the throttle so it would advance when the knob is pulled. This is where I started my problem. I was hoping this was something someone else had encountered that's why I posted this topic. After fussing at me for making the change he said he would readjust it for me. When he does I will be watching him very closely.lol Edited June 9, 2016 by JPWH
