Does anyone know what the PART # 3933 link  was used for on the 603, 654 and 704 tractors  (shown in the Wheel Horse manuals at the end of the belt guard) ?

Lane I believe it's the link that connects the PTO pedal to the PTO idler pulley. :) In the parts manual

I have it shows it right next to the pedal. #59 in this pic parts &link 008.jpg

No problem Lane. It can be confusing in the drawings. That one is for my 500 Special and is now a pretty red. :)

The arm with the idler pulley should be turned 180 degrees.

Racinbob,

I have these same parts in my leftovers from disassembling my 704. Unfortunately that was 3 or so years ago when I disassembled this machine. I too wondered what they were when I stumbled across this thread.

What are these items actually used for?  Aside from t#56 and #57, the pedal and brake lever.

Assuming they are an idler for a mower deck belt or something like that?  I don't see the Idler, bolt, or arm on the drawing so I would assume those would have come with something driven?

It's the PTO belt tensioner assembly. The pedal locks forward on a roll-pin through the arm and lets the deck belt go slack. You push the pedal in, flip the small arm, and let the pedal out, which draws the belt tight.

:text-yeahthat: Here it is mounted to operate a sickle bar mower. The idler is the v-pulley in the picture. It works the same way for a belly mower but keep in mind that the plates bolted to the frame are different. The belly mower used the early version of the tach-o-matic mount. I'm sure somebody here has a picture of that. :)
