I was looking at the other pictures Koen.  That is not a Wheel Horse transmission...is he saying it is off a Kabota??  :)

Here are the other pictures. Definitely appears to be similar to a WH 3 piece trans, but the shifter seems off center in the pictures.  Weird.  Being a smooth hood, I wonder if this is an early one of the RJ-35 converted to 3-speed kits? Or is that a converted hood from something else that is just coincidentally shaped similarly?  I don't know of many people who could identify that. @rj35hunter @VinsRJ @Wheelhorsestory  @evanloock @whlpny

I know it looks like a Wheel Horse transmission, and it has all the external parts. The flat tension pulley is 58/59 RJ.  The axle is different.  The casting is completely different, ie...shifter is off center, the 2 set screws with lock nuts, that other bolt in front of the shifter, the bolt pattern in the side plates and casting are also not like the #5003 / #5010, and the brake band mount appears to be less then on a 45 degree angle.  Like Jason said, it may be something special, but it's not like anything I have seen.  In the 7th picture Jason posted, notice the shaft that protrudes the side plate in front of the brake drum and under the shifter.  The inside of that trans has to be set up different also.  Very interesting for sure.  :handgestures-thumbupright:  Dang, I want to open that sucker up.  :)

Looking a little more at the pics, I think this is just a complete home made job that made use of whatever parts they could find. A remarkably clever junkyard pup. Who knows...  maybe an early attempt at reverse engineering with some scrapped parts?

I would be inclined to agree with you Jason, except for the casting.  The build out for the bolts in the middle are not even there.  And the off center shift...where did that come from.  But then there is RED paint showing under the green on the bottom of the casting in a few pictures.  I really want to open this up.   This is one heck of a fabrication, if that is what this is.  We are talking about a casting here.  I think this trans is off of something, but what??  Did the Ponds make their transmission from looking at this???

Very interesting and mysterious indeed. Why don't we all get together, buy it and bring it over? Among many of us can't amount to that much. I am sure I have spent more than that in stupid stuff. Then we let Steve dig into it.

Make it or call it a $5 fund for research or we just half to know. Then put it in some ones barn in Pa. So they can bring it to the big show every year as a center peace. Just my :twocents-02cents:

:text-bravo:Wonder how much it would cost to have it shipped to the states and how many tickets would need to be sold to pull this off?

How about 32 of us at $50.00 each? Sounds easier to accomplish to me.

I am very serious. Anyone else up to it? Can you translate everything that he says about it on it? Could we also contact him and try to get a bit more history on it?
