Conversion of new style parking brake to old style on Hydro tractors

I have converted all of my machines that were not that way already to the older style parking brake.

This makes it easier to remove the left side cover and I find it works better.

Just need to cut off that thin offset rod and weld on a piece of 1/4" keystock.

Then you need to cut out a small slot in the tunnel cover for the parking brake handle to protrude through.

If you want the parking brake indicator light to work, you will need to move the switch to the tunnel cover where the handle will contact it and turn on the light.

I didn't bother with the light as the tractor cannot move if the brake is on so you really can't drive around with it left on.

If you have any of the new style knobs left over, I will buy a couple. :)

I agree with you Cleat, the newer style brakes are a nuisance when you have to take off the side panel.  Makes you wonder what WH was thinking when they went to this design.  I am guessing it was driven by the need/want for the indicator light.  The older hydros from the early 80's used the old style brake lever and a lock out on start switch (I think) on the brake side
